A Night Owl's Guide to Morning Energy

Mornings can be pretty slow and rough, especially if you’re not the type of person who gets out of bed ready to seize the day. If you're a night owl (just like me) who struggles to get going in the morning, this guide is for you.

But first, get enough sleep.

Let’s admit it, half of the reason we’re unhappy and moody in the morning is because we'd rather keep sleeping. As night owls can be more focused and productive during the night hours, we sometimes forget what time it is, and the next thing we know, it’s already 2:45 am.

The best approach here, especially if you’re a busy person, is to finish things as early as you possibly can. Knowing that you have less to do might make it easier for you to turn the (literal and metaphorical) switch off and go to sleep. On the other hand, if screen time is what’s keeping you up at night, then check the settings of your smartphone or laptop and see if there’s a bedtime mode to remind you to get some rest.

Eat right.

The question of whether or not to eat breakfast is a personal one. Some prefer only a cup of coffee, while others prefer having brunch instead. Regardless of your preference, avoid going too long without eating. Starting the day with good food, such as a healthy meal, can help you feel energised and focused, setting a positive tone for the rest of the day.

A morning routine.

Doing simple tasks like making your bed in the morning or doing your skincare routine can lead to a sense of accomplishment that can set a positive tone and encourage your mind and body to take on other challenges.

For skincare, go for the ones that will make you feel refreshed like applying cleansers and moisturisers. These will not just wake you up but also bring you better mornings knowing that your skin is healthy, radiant, and better than ever!

No matter how lovely and peaceful the night is, many activities can only be done during the daytime. Whether you’re a night owl or a person who’s working on the night shift, try to switch gears every once in a while. Don’t limit yourself to the evening. There are great things out there waiting to be discovered by you.
